HISTORY
In 1977 it was founded in Ayvansaray.
In 1980 the first Marpol service in Turkey started to be presented with the Gemi Sintine Servisi (Ship Bilge Service) identification mark (brand).
İş Güvenliği Malzemeleri San. Tic. Ltd Şti. (Occupational Safety Materials Industry and Trade Limited Company), the first company that was founded with the sector name in Turkey, gathered all businesses including bilge service and established on 14th of February 1984 on St. Valentine’s Day.
It was the only company that started to serve all NATO navy ships by taking title "Safe Supplier" from the US Navy.
In 1994 provided oil spill response service in the M/T Nassia tanker accident upon an invitation from the Navy, Kemerli, MEKE Deniz Temizliği ve Atık Toplama Hizmetleri Sanayi ve Ticaret Ltd. Şti. (Marine Cleaning and Waste Collection Services Industry and Trade Limit Company) came into being.
MEKE’s seashore cleaning methods and minimum waste output performance during its intervention into M/T Volgoneft 248 accident in 1999 happened at Florya was collected into a book by the International Tanker Owners Pollution Federation (ITOPF).
In 2004 MEKE was selected as the oil spill engineer of BTC (Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan) pipeline and continued its pioneering position by establishing Sesmeke Ltd with an USA origin company.
MEKE, In 2007 MEKE started to manufacture a sea surface cleaning boats that are smaller in size and can be transported by land.
In 1998 the company started to produce marine barrier and skimmer for the first time in Turkey.
Within the framework of the regulation for implementation of the Law numbered 5312 published in 2007 the company started a new formation under the brand MEKE Akademi (MEKE Academy) to provide under the same roof training and engineering services to the sector, and in the same year, MekeSlik® software was introduced.
Since 2010 it started to offer its services to other countries or big oil companies.
Founded and created brands such as Antipollution, Mekosea, Sesmeke, Tuzla Arıtma, and Enviro and having companies carrying its name in three countries at the Black Sea, Caspian Sea, Indian Ocean, the Middle East and Mediterranean Sea, MEKE established MEKE A.Ş. (MEKE Inc.) in 2013.
